AAT Level 3 & 4 Accounting

Sasha found that studying a AAT Level 3 and 4 Combined Course in Accounting allowed her to find more exciting job opportunities. Here's her story, in her own words.

I’ve lived in the sleepy Lake District town of Kendal for most of my life.

It’s the type of town where everyone who comes to visit says it’s such a lovely place to live, and it really is, but there’s only so many times you can walk the fells before you want to do something else. There’s not a lot for the youngsters to do.

It’s the type of town that if you don’t manage to leave when you're young, you get sucked in and stuck for life in the same routine doing the same job and the same things every day. Everyone knows everyone and you're guaranteed to know at least a handful of people when you walk into a pub or shop.

I used to work as a store assistant in a budget brand supermarket, a job which I stuck at for 10 years, with many promises of promotion but alas there was never the opportunity for me. Then the opportunity of a lifetime came about.

My mum has worked for my stepdad as an accountant for many years. There are 2 directors, my mum is the accountant and there are two girls in the reception that handle all the admin work. At the start of 2020 my stepdad’s business partner and fellow director decided to retire. This gave the opportunity for my mum to be promoted to HR Director, increasing her work load drastically.

That same year one of the office girls left for another job, leaving one person to handle everything in the office. There was too much work for one person, so this prompted my mum to request I hand in my notice and come to work for their company, first as an admin and payroll clerk.

Now, 6 months down the line, I’m the payroll and accounts manager and studying Level 3 and 4 Combined Course in Accounting.

My auntie has been studying the ICS Learn Accountancy course as well, and because she rated me so much that prompted my decision to use the same provider. I’m only starting out but for the first time in years I’m hopeful for the future and I’m eager to progress my career.

Being able to learn online makes it easy to learn as I work, managing to balance both work and study. Online study also makes it easy to continue at home, so I can use any free time when I’m not out walking with my little boy to learn as much as I can to help with the family business.

I would highly recommend ICS Learn to anyone as its so easy to navigate the course and there are tutorials for everything. And the support from the online tutors is so helpful. Their guidance and support are invaluable.
