CIPD Student Stories: Lindsay Carr | CIPD Level 5 Review

After completing her CIPD Level 3 qualification, Lindsay wanted to further advance her career and gain even more responsibilities in her HR role, so she decided to enrol on our CIPD Level 5 course.

I am currently employed as an Office Manager within the plumbing & heating industry. I enrolled on the Level 5 CIPD People Management course in April 2021, as I wanted to advance my career and learn more about the role I am in. After dealing with third party HR companies to deal with the HR within my organisation, I decided that it makes sense to learn and get such a qualification myself.

I was a bit nervous about starting an online course, scared I wouldn't get the support needed, or that I wouldn't have the same opportunities to speak to other students, as you would in a college environment.

I have found ICS to be supportive during my course and also the student community section online means you can still talk to other students who are on the same course as you.

I have found the course very difficult, but the support from tutors has helped me overcome these difficulties. The fact that it's online and there are no deadlines takes the stress away as I work full time with a young child so can't always find the time to study and carry out course work.

This course has helped me advance my career within the organisation I am in and I am now slowly taking over HR within the organisation.

I would recommend ICS to other people due to the pricing of the course, since they are the cheapest I found, and also the ease of working online and tutor support is there if you need it as well as a community of students.
