CIPD Student Stories: Georgia McAllister | CIPD Level 5 Diploma

With the goal of becoming an HR Advisor, Georgia is studying the CIPD Level 5 Associate Diploma in People Management, while working full time as a Planning Assistant. 

I have worked for the Care Inspectorate since October 2020 and joined the organisation as a Modern Apprentice within the Human Resources team. Since, I've progressed to the National Planning Team and am now a Planning Assistant, gaining in-depth knowledge around how our policies work and workforce planning in general.

During my time in HR, I had to take on additional responsibility and cover for a colleague who went on maternity leave before her replacement started.

Because of this, I was able to learn and develop quickly and demonstrate the skills and knowledge required to operate at an assistant level, while also gaining an Scottish Vocational Qualification in Business Administration.

Having felt like I had already learned what the CIPD Level 3 Foundation Certificate had to offer, upon completion of my SVQ, I decided to undertake the Level 5 Associate Diploma in People Management.

I was keen to develop my knowledge of HR practices and set myself apart from other candidates when applying for future roles.

As of right now, my goal is to become an HR Advisor, while gaining workplace experience. The CIPD Level 5 Associate Diploma is helping me to understand the work I'm doing at a deeper level, while encouraging me to think critically and proactively.
