AAT Student Stories: Catherine Ring | AAT Level 2 Review

Catherine didn't let the pandemic stop her from pushing forward and making things happen for her career. Find out about her experience studying an AAT Level 2 Foundation Certificate in Accounting with us.  

As a freelance musician, during the first lockdown in 2020, my industry was hit hard by the effects of COVID-19. I wanted to make sure I had some more relevant skills to offer a company should I need to apply for a job outside of the music industry. Mathematics was always a second choice for me so I took the opportunity to study something in an affordable and time-efficient way. 

I searched for jobs online to see what kind of roles I might be interested in, and bookkeeping and accounting seemed like obvious choices for me. A lot of these jobs specified AAT qualifications as well, so I began looking into course providers. 

I chose ICS Learn as their interface looked easy to use and the staff was really helpful when looking at course options and payments. I needed to begin from the start, so went for an AAT Level 2 Foundation qualification. 

I learn best from practical tasks and images more than lectures and reading textbooks so I was enticed by the online element. Being able to study in my own time was also key and allowed me to remain flexible and fit it in around my other commitments, including my pregnancy. 

I found the course generally flowed well and had a lot of the elements covered, and my tutor was helpful, supportive and helped me navigate some of the issues I faced throughout the course. 

I would recommend ICS Learn as I think it was value for money overall.
