Start on the path to becoming a confident, capable team leader with a short qualification from the UK's most respected leadership organisation.
Institute of Leadership and Management qualifications are trusted by global organisations such as Santander to increase innovation, teamwork, and strategic thinking through training 70,000 managers each year.
Depending on your chosen units, you could master planning and monitoring work, improving performance, developing your team and more, all while developing your leadership abilities.
You don't need any formal qualifications to enrol on this foundation course, but you must be 18+.
You'll benefit the most from the course if you're a current or potential team leader with at least two years' full-time (or three years' part-time) work experience.
Your course is fully online.
To achieve the Award, you'll need 3 credits.
You'll gain this by studying one mandatory unit, then either two 1-credit units or one 2-credit unit.
Mandatory unit (1 credit)
Optional units (1 credit)
Optional units (2 credits)
Please note that where this course mentions legislation, this will be based largely on UK law.
For full details of what you’ll learn on each unit, download our ILM course guide.
If you'd like to broaden your skills, you could study the Level 2 Certificate, which allows you to study 13 credits rather than 3.
‘I had previously studied with ICS Learn in the 1990s and was delighted to find they offered ILM. The tutors are really well-versed in their subject and everyone you speak to is right behind you, interested in your success and cheering you on.’
- Judith Martin
‘I learnt a lot whilst studying, much of which I could relate to my own workplace, which really brought the coursework to life and helped me to absorb the information. And I enjoyed interacting with my tutor regularly, who was very insightful and patient.’
- Emily Horswell
‘My company takes ILM very seriously, and I have been recognised at work for progression. I get detailed feedback with every assignment within a short period of time, and find myself relating situations at work to the course - it’s helping me even before completion.’
